P. Allen Smith’s Moss Mountain Farm Part 1: The House (Garden2Grow2016)

A couple weeks ago, we were invited to attend the Garden2Grow 2016 Social Media/Blogging conference at P. Allen Smith’s Moss Mountain Farm. After trying to decide how to get a massive amount of information into a single post, I decided to break it down into a series of posts that highlight different aspects of our trip. We had been to the farm once before for a poultry workshop, but we didn’t get to see inside the house. This time, we were so excited knowing that we would get a tour of the house. When we arrived at the farm, this beautiful American Greek Revival style home stands  proudly behind a massive, beautiful oak tree, known as one of the ‘Big Sister Oaks.’ We spent a lot of time under this tree. It is magnificent. All we needed was a hammock and a glass of sweet tea!
Allen did an incredible job designing a home that appears to be a historical house,
even though, it was completely built, just ten years ago. It was painted in a lime wash and distressed to look old.

The welcoming committee, a.k.a, Mr. Duncan, greeted us from the staircase.

The kitchent is a gorgeous welcoming space with a large island where friends and family can gather. The farmhouse sink was one of my favorites! As you know, I love pretty sinks! See the egg cups in the kitchen window? He sells those in his shop. I have a set that I like to use for my farm fresh eggs! I love how he incorporates, flowers from the garden, and fresh eggs from his hens! That viking stove is just dreamy!

This is the main living area. I love how he incorporates books into the decor.I just wanted to sit down and comb through them!  He gave us a tour of this room and shared some funny stories of things he has overheard people say when they visit. The sofas and chairs are slipcovered and can be changed for each season. What a great idea!

This is one of the screened porches off the kitchen, breakfast and informal seating area. There are beautiful views of the garden and Arkansas River. This table, I’m sure has seen many wonderful meals and shared times with guests, family and friends. What a great place to entertain and enjoy the canvas of nature and it’s beauty!

Both screen porches expand the length of the first and second level at the rear of the house. This is the sleeping porch. There are three twin size beds on this porch. Allen shared how nice it is to sleep out here, especially in the winter.  The copper soaking tub took my breath away! I can just imagine taking a bubble bath while enjoying the view!

This is P. Allen Smith’s master bedroom. He has a huge historical canopy bed. The room is beautifully decorated in masculine tones and furnishings. As you can see, Duncan is the little master of this castle.
